Future Frontiers for Research in Law and AI

Abstract

LawAI’s Legal Frontiers team aims to incubate new law and policy proposals that are anticipatory, actionable, accommodating to a wide variety of worldviews and technological trajectories, and ambitious. This post sets out eight “Future Frontiers” that are already ripe for scholarly attention: regulating government-developed frontier AI; accelerating technologies that defend against risks from AI; regulating internal deployment; fostering legal resilience by rapidly patching legal loopholes; responsibly advancing AI-enabled governance; responsibly automating legal processes; accelerating legal technologies that empower citizens; and approval regulation in a decentralized world.
